I know this will come as a TOTAL shock to you. But my 2019 Mustang GT developed a rattle in the top, right where the drivers side top latch connects into the windshield frame.

“A rattle in a Mustang?!” You ask yourself. I’m shocked as well.

I know this will come as a TOTAL shock to you. But the service advisor and the actual tech seem to be unable to communicate to each other about the location and circumstances around the rattle.

Today was my fourth trip to the dealer to get it fixed. I’m racking up some serious Uber charges here folks getting to and from work.

Shocked. A Ford with a rattle that can’t be fixed. Shocked.

I did bring this upon myself by buying a Ford.  I have to admit I was browsing used Lexus’s at Carmax today.....ones without rattles......

Here’s a buffer image of a pair of EPI 100's I restored a few years ago.

sweet! I have a set of Epicure 100's I refinished in my youth and replaced the woofers in. They’ve since blown and I’m going to grab some from Human speakers one of these days and redo the veneer if I can’t refinish them successfully again. I got them from a friends dad who used them is the early 70's as a dj.

Excellent! That’s where I got my replacement parts. I bought new tweeters and crossover kits from them. The cross over kit is ni ce because it has the 5 way banana plug connectors , versus the old spring clips.

They sound really fantastic now.

Good luck with yours.

Being it is a squeak/rattle complaint that is easily duplicated, surprised they didnt offer a loaner, rental, or shuttle. Weird.

And did you request to drive with the foreman/tech that will be looking at the car? That is rule #1 in my shop. We dont have a 99.8% fixed right 1st time for nothing. Just saying.

Ford doesn’t like to do loaners. They will pay for a rental car if they know it will be covered under warranty and that it calls for enough hours of work.

I paid mid size luxury car levels of cash for my truck, but the dealer never gives me a rental unless they know Ford will cover it. I’m equally surprised they have no loaners.

Interestingly, I experienced the same thing with Infiniti. It has only been Honda who has given my fiance a loaner when her pilot is in the shop.

Those are nice . The speakers not the rattles.  The best pair of speakers that I ever owned was from Pioneer’s brief foray into mid-market home speakers. They were called the DSS-9 and they’re pretty much forgotten now but I loved them. I was heartbroken when they were trashed during a move. This is a pretty good write up on them.

Nope. They have rentals, but they were all gone. Already loaned out.

I went overboard with the description when working with the service advisor. I put blue painters tape on the area where it was rattling. I described perfectly where, when, and at what speed the rattle occurs.

But to no avail. None of that info got passed to the tech.

I ended up going on a drive with the tech today and within 2 minutes, he was “Oh yea, I hear it”. I wanted to smash my head on the dashboard.

Yep - they didn’t have (or want to give me) a loaner. Sigh. Ah well, at least they’re still working on it.

Thanks!

Pioneer made some great stuff. Hope you find some replacements - that sucks they were damaged.

Yea, I love audio stuff. I’ve also restored some old Cerwin Vega VS-120's and they freaking rock. Most people think they only do loud rock (which they do) but they also do jazz and classical quite well.

Pic below of one I re-veneered with Cherry veneer and re-capped.

You have a convertible. The roof of a car is a HUGE contributor to its structural rigidity, and your car lacks that. The folding roof meets the windshield frame via a couple of clamps and a gasketed joint. It is going to move. if it can move, it can squeak and/or rattle.

if you think a convertible should be as rigid and squeak-free as a non-convertible Lexus, then you have completely unreasonable expectations.

Yes, understood. I’d just like to get more than 3k out of the car before it starts to rattle.

I think there’s something seriously wrong with the drivers side top latch. It is not aligned or seated correctly. Passenger side is perfect.

It’s structurally very sound (for a vert). This isn’t some old floppy  5.0 from the 80’s. I don’t think chassis flex is causing this.

Funny, I got an Infiniti loaner once when I had some work done on my Fiat  since Fiat doesn’t do loaners but that dealership sold both.
